The Tank Battle of Cambrai, From November 20 to 29, 1917
Abstract:
The Siegfried position located south of and passing Cambrai, via St. Quentin, La Fere to the Chemin des Dames, was occupied in March, 1917. Through an ingenious chess-like move, the German leadership had timely thwarted the enemy's plans of attack against the heretofore German front. The attempts of the Entente, to break through on both sides of Arras and on the Aisne as well as in the Champagne, thus met with no success in capturing this new German position through outflanking.
