Abstract:

The mission of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency DTRA is to safeguard the United States and its allies from weapons of mass destruction WMD chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosives, or CBRNE by providing capabilities to reduce, eliminate and counter the threat and mitigate its effects. The DoD created DTRA as a combat support agency to focus department capabilities in the fight against WMD. DTRA supports the three pillars of the National Strategy on Combating WMD nonproliferation, counterproliferation and consequence management. DTRIAC is sponsored by DTRA or its various predecessors. DDRE established the DASA Data Center DASIAC in 1964 which was renamed DTRIAC in 2000.
