Hotine's (Omega, Phi, Nu) Coordinate System
Abstract:
This report is an extensive reworking of the material in Chapter 12 of Hotines treatise Mathematical Geodesy U.S. Department of Commerce, Washington, D.C. 1969 which dealt with the basic properties of the Omega, phi, Nu coordinate system. In 1990, the author showed that Hotines derivation of this coordinate system was incomplete, and the present document contains the full details of that work as well as the material required to rigorously complete Hotines analysis. The latter material has not been previously published.... Differential geodesy, Omega, phi, Nu Coordinate system
