IPAD II (Integrated Programs for Aerospace-Vehicle Design) Advances in Distributed Data Base Management for CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing Technology). Proceedings of a National Symposium Held in Denver, Colorado, April 17-19, 1984.
Abstract:
To respond to the national needs for improved productivity in engineering design and manufacturing, a NASAU.S. Navy supported joint industrygovernment project has been underway denoted Integrated Programs for Aerospace-Vehicle Design IPAD. The IPAD project objective is to improve engineering productivity through better use of computer-aided design and manufacturing CADCAM technology. It focuses on development of technology and associated software for integrated company-wide management of engineering information. This second IPAD Symposium, Advances in Distributed Data Base Management for CADCAM, is co-sponsored by NASA, the U.S. Naval Material Command, and ITAB. The objectives of this Symposium are as follows to provide a greater awareness of the critical need by U.S. industry for advancements in distributed CADCAM data management capability to present industry experiences and current and planned research in distributed data base management and to summarize IPAD data management contributions and their impact on U.S. industry and computer hardware and software vendors. Symposium papers focus on distributed data management technology issues critical to the engineering and manufacturing process. Papers include a description of the government role in CADCAM data management research, CADCAM data management approaches in industry, research toward a future CADCAM distributed data management system, approach to CADCAM data management by hardware and software vendors, and industry experiences and exploitation of IPAD and related data management technology.
