Abstract:

The purpose of this project was to investigate state of the art of MIS software effectiveness evaluation criteria and assess the desirability of embarking on an expanded MIS software effectiveness project in the future. The measurement techniques analyzed were classified into four groups economic, behavioral, other and management science. Major findings were 1 there is no single satisfactory approach that can measure and evaluate MIS software effectiveness from the users perspective, mainly because of deficiencies in establishing the theoretical metric and shortcomings of the measuring devices, 2 development of surrogate measures to evaluate effectiveness is a promising direction to pursue, and 3 no methodology exists for evaluating the effectiveness of the system based upon measurement of the system attributes.
