Analog Frame Store Memory.
Abstract:
The Analog Frame Store Memory is an all solid state high density storage unit capable of storing a full frame of TV information in analog form for periods up to ten seconds. The storage element is a state-of-the-art monolithic charge coupled device CCD which contains a sufficient number of storage sites for a field of TV information. The Frame Store Memory combines two devices to obtain a full frame of storage. Data is inputted to memory in analog form at the standard TV rate of 30 Frames Per Second FPS and is outputted through an AD converter at one of six selectable rates 0.1 to 7.5 FPS. When installed in the RPV, the Analog Frame Store Memory provides a frame storage buffer between the TV camera and the data compression encoder. Full frame storage of the TV imagery minimizes the complexity of the data compressor when transmitting over the RPVs narrow band data link. The small size, low power and ruggedness of the Analog Frame Store Memory make it an attractive candidate for the Army RPV application, in particular, and to act as an intermediate buffer for general TV based imaging systems. Image reconstruction of the received signal, after decoding, is accomplished in the Image Analyzer Digital Display IADD. The IADD consists of two full frame dynamic random-access digital memories operating in a ping-pong fashion to provide a continuous display on a standard TV monitor.
