CALCULATING AN ACOUSTIC FIELD IN LAMINAR-HETEROGENEOUS MEDIA

Abstract:

A method for calculating acoustic fields in channels is presented. It is assumed that the channel is filled with a medium which has no shear elasticity and which is nonhomogeneous in the laminar sense. The method is based on the postulate that the selection of the field components, the sum of which describes this field, closely correspond to the spatial structure of the acoustic field, thus facilitating the computation. The acoustic field in the channel is described by a finite number of components, each of which is in turn described by a converging integral. This technique is particularly useful when the acoustic field has a zonal structure, allowing for faster and simpler calculations, than would be possible using the conventional method of plane waves. The acoustic field was computed for the region of the refractive geometric shadow in the channel.
