REFLECTION OF FLEXURAL WAVES AT THE EDGE OF A PLATE
Abstract:
The reflection of straight-crested flexural waves at the edge of a semi-infinite plate was studied in terms of a 2-dimensional plate theory. The analysis indicated that, in general, a flexural wave propagated toward the edge at an arbitrary angle of incidence produces 3 reflected waves a slow and fast flexural wave and a shear wave. Special cases involving normal, oblique, and grazing incidences are investigated.
