Domestic Abuse in the Armed Forces: Improving Prevention and Outreach
Abstract:
Domestic abuse among members of the U.S. Armed Forces is a public health issue with severe consequences for military personnel and their families. Congress and the Department of Defense (DoD) have identified domestic abuse as a threat to unit readiness (Kamarck, Ott, and Sacco, 2019). Military relationships face unique stressors and also have strengths that distinguish them from civilian relationships.
