Improving Transition Assistance for Reserve Component Members
Abstract:
Military-to-civilian transitions are a broad set of experiences that occur when active and reserve component members separate from the military, when reserve component members switch from extended active duty back to reserve duty, and when service members retire.Senate Report (S.R.) 114-255 directed the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to conduct research on the transition experiences of reserve component members (i.e., members of both the Reserves and National Guard), make recommendations to the Senate Armed ServicesCommittee on how to better serve the transition needs of this population, or alternatively, suggest a transition program specifically designed for the reserve component.
