Tests of Dupont Aluminum Paint P-100P8497 in the Fireroom of the USS Eugene A. Greene (DD711)
Abstract:
Hot Surfaces, including asbestos-lagged pipes, in the after fireroom of the USS Eugene A. Greene (DD711) were painted with a high quality low emissivity aluminum paint (Dupont P-100P8497), and measurements of the emission of radiation by these surfaces were made at sea with the superheated steam at 800 deg F. The primary purposes of the test were to observe the durability of the paint under actual service conditions and to observe any obvious benefits of the painted surfaces to the comfort of fireroom personnel.
