FY19 Annual Progress Report: ONR Short Pulse Research, Evaluation and Non-Swap (OSPRES) Demonstration for c-sUAV Study
Abstract:
The OSPRES grant is represented by three categories: 1) Source development; 2) RF coupling; and, 3) RF transmission. Source development captures advances to silicon based photoconductive switches (SiPCSS) and power semiconductor alternatives to silicon PCSS. The effort is captured through results of modeling, simulation, and characterization including the required pulse charging, transmission line topology, and any power or transmission conditioning necessary based on the specific RF waveform to be generated. Antenna designs for RF propagation focuses on generating novel electrically small antennas to propagate RF waveforms and investigates the trade space of the ESAs in terms of bandwidth, VSWR, gain, input power, steerable angle, highlighting their tradeoffs. This report summarizes year two (YR2) of the OSPRES grant research and accomplishments during Oct. 2018 through Sept. 2019.
