The Rational Design of Peptide Serine Protease Inhibitors,

reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: ADP008544 | Need Help?

Abstract:

Since the uncontrolled activity of serine protease enzymes is widely implicated in the pathology of disease states involving tissue destruction, there is considerable therapeutic potential for molecules designed specifically to inhibit these enzymes. In the work outlined below, the aim has been to develop a small synthetic peptide inhibitor of the serine protease, human neutrophil elastase HNE for the treatment of pulmonary emphysema.
