Engineering Analyses Associated with the Development of an Airborne Phased Array Radar Antenna,
Abstract:
This is an interim report to discuss a number of engineering problems aroused during the development of the Joint STARS radar antenna. These problems can be grouped in three engineering areas design, test, and maintenance. The design consideration includes two major concerns of a large airborne radar antenna thermalvibration problems and airframe effects. The test consideration is represented by the problem of measurement accuracy of a short ground range and a plan for accurate in-flight pattern measurements. To facilitate the maintenance of the Joint STARS antenna, a number of operational problems that require some quantitative engineering guidelines are currently being studied.
