Abstract:

This paper presents an up-to-date view of aluminum-lithium development in terms of both properties and production readiness. Successes achieved to date, mostly where damage tolerance and medium strength targets are concerned, will be outlined. Design allowables, properties and product size capabilities will be presented for some alloyproduct form combinations which are close to commercialization.
