The NAE (National Aeronautical Establishment) Atmospheric Research Aircraft,
Abstract:
The Flight Research Laboratory of the National Aeronautical Establishment of Canada operates a T-33 and a Twin Otter aircraft instrumented for atmospheric research studies. This paper describes the instrumentation in the aircraft with emphasis on the strapped-down inertialDoppler system used to derived the mean and turbulent components of the atmospheric motion. Example data from several research projects are presented to demonstrate the measurement and analysis capabilities of the aircraft and their data playback facilities.
