Abstract:

A handheld instrument has been developed that allows craftsmen to determine whether a fiber is 1 a traffic carrying one, 2 a non-traffic carrying one, or 3 one preselected for splicing from a remote site through the injection of a specially coded optical signal. All this is done in a manner which causes little or no disruptions to an operational link. Author
