Abstract:

Recent advances in compounding technology have extended the utility of fluoropolymers to new application areas. The following technologies will be reviewed 1 Statically conductive fluoropolymers formulated to perform as noise suppression layers in data transmission cables or to enhance the corona discharge resistance of high voltage cables. 2 Silicone IPN Interpenetrating Polymer Networks modified fluoropolymers that offer improved flexibility, coupled with excellent lubricity and processibility. 3 Flexibilized formulations to solve the problems associated with the use of fluoropolymers in plenum tight buffer fiber optic construction. 4 PTFE modified resins which offer low smoke generation properties along with lubricity and wear resistance. 5 Inorganic particulate filled fluoropolymers that enhance the inherently poor cut-through and abrasion resistance of fluoropolymer resins.
