Abstract:

This paper describes a new castable IHE explosive, ATEX, developed by the Aeroject Tactical Systems Co. The interim qualification testing conducted successfully according to NAVord OD44811 is reviewed and the processing characteristics and physical properties of the explosive are discussed. ATEX was the first composition to be tested to the new IHE standards established by the DOD Ammunition and Explosives Safety Standards, DOD 5154.45, Interim Change 4.
