Abstract:

The authors investigated the effects of discrete viscous dampers on a spacecrafts rigid body control loop. The dampers affect on the open loop gain and phase margins, the shape of the open loop gain-phase plot and the flexible body dynamics were determined as a function of the viscous dampers strength and the mass connected to the damper. The damper was sized for those configurations where the added damper improved the system robustness. Author
