Abstract:

This phase consists of an evaluation at fixed dosages or fixed challenges of the following variables related to massive transfusion the anticoagulant used for storage CPD, potassium, hemorrhage, and hypothermia. The model used consists of young gelding pigs, 30-40 kgs., studied under light halothane anesthesia for a control period, 150 minutes of infusion, and 90 minutes of recovery, with frequent sampling of blood, urine, expired air, temperature, electrocardiogram EKG, and various blood pressures.
