Abstract:

This technical note provides descriptions and photograph examples of cloudearth phenomena as seen from polar-orbiting and geostationary meteorological satellitesMETSATS. It begins with a look at basic cloud types, covers comma cloud systems, low-and high-level wind flow cloud patterns and ends with miscellaneous cloudearth phenomena. It is meant as a quick reference to help in METSAT imagery interpretation, and can serve as a portion of a units METSAT Imagery Reference File MIRF.
