A Systematic Investigation of Pressure Distributions at High Speeds Over Five Representative NACA Low-Drag and Conventional Airfoil Sections
Abstract:
Discussion of pressure distribution and aerodynamic characteristics of typical low-drag conventional airfoils up to M 0.85. Tables and graphs give pressure at various percentages of wing chord for angles of attack from - 6 Degrees to 14 Degrees for five airfoils. Variations of pressure co-efficient with Mach number, and lift coefficient with angle of attack are shown. Karman-Tsien modifications are correct at subcritical velocities, and low-drag airfoils superior to conventional type, especially instability, at supercritical velocities.
