The current Norlh Charleston SPCA facility provides inadequate space and amenities to maintain the growing animal populace it is experiencing. Additionally, it is 26 years old and is not up to current standards for this type of facility. A new facility has been designed and funded. Additionally, Charleston County desires the current North Charleston SPCA facility property for expansion of the adjacent Charleston County Jail.
