reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: ADA576185 | Open PDF

Abstract:

The AEC CAD Standard has been developed by the CADBIM Technology Center Center for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment to eliminate redundant Computer-Aided Design CAD standardization efforts within the Department of Defense DoD and the Federal Government. The manual is part of an initiative to develop a nonproprietary CAD standard that incorporates existing industry, national, and international standards and to develop data standards that address the entire life cycle of facilities within the DoD. The CAD drafting standards addressed in the AEC CAD standard include presentation graphics, levellayer assignments, electronic file naming, and standard symbology. The Centers primary goal is to develop a CAD standard that is generic enough to operate under various CAD software packages such as Bentleys MicroStation and Autodesks AutoCAD and incorporate existing industry standards when possible.
