Individual Combatant's Weapons Firing Algorithm Phase 1

reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: ADA522216 | Open PDF

Abstract:

Report developed under Small Business Innovation Research contract. This report documents the development of a weapons firing algorithm for individual combatants, including the formal methodology used, an overview of the subject matter experts SMEs who developed the methodology and helped to scope the model, the results of the formal data collection process, and a discussion of the data analysis process that yielded the model. The objective was to determine which factors were the most influential and how the priorities of these factors can change over a variety of scenarios. Analyses of the SME responses showed large discrepancies between the SME target selection and the weapon firing mode. The analyses also showed that the largest divergence in the prioritization scheme was a function of the distance to the enemy. As the enemy comes closer, which effectively decreases the time to respond, target prioritization schemes appeared to change significantly. Included in the report are extensive appendices containing an interim progress report, excerpts from pertinent field manuals, open field slides, D MOUT slides, subject questionnaires, sample terrain analysis, open field responses, and MOUT responses.
