Examples of barrier materials are butyl rubbers, chlorinated aliphatics, fluorinated polymers. Characteristics of barrier materials are thermal stability, flame resistance, ease of decontamination, longevity, leakage points, weight, durability flexibility, abrasion, crackle, and cost.
