Abstract:

The purpose of this report is to present the results of one of the research and development programs which was initiated hy the memhers of the Ship Production Committee of The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers and financed largely hy government funds through a cost sharing contract hetween the U.S. Maritime Administration and Sethiehem Steel Corporation. The effort of this project was directed to the development of improved methods and hardware applicable to shipyard welding in the U.S. shipyards.
