Computed Tomography Scanner Maintenance Service Contracts

Abstract:

We performed this audit in response to a DoD Hotline allegation that maintenance service contracts for computed tomography CT scanners were awarded without full and open competition. DOD is currently expending approximately 9 million for CT scanner maintenance service annually. This expenditure will increase each year and is projected to be about 12 million in FY 1998. We coordinated this audit with personnel of the Inspector General, Department of Veterans Affairs DVA because they had received a similar complaint in 1991.
