Apparel Research Network (ARN) Apparel Order Processing Module (AOPM). Application Program for Management of Special Measurement Clothing Orders
Abstract:
The Apparel Research Network ARN was initiated by the Defense Logistics Agency DLA for the purpose of modernizing the ordering, distribution, and manufacturing of military uniforms, and transferring technology from twenty-three companies and universities, the ARN Partners, to the defense apparel manufacturers. The Apparel Order Processing Module AOPM is designed to respond to the critical need for an ability to order clothing expeditiously for military recruits and for other military personnel. This application program primarily supports the ordering of special sized clothing. The objective is to reduce the delivery cycle for an order from three to six weeks to fifteen days. Measuring personnel and issuing clothing may take place at a military base, ROTC, or Jr. ROTC location. It is important that measurements are complete and accurate to insure that personnel requiring special measurements do not lack required clothing. While most personnel are fitted with standard size garments, the special measurement problem is relatively low volume, but is an issue in terms of cost and delivery time.
