The purpose is to produce an explanatory model of Quaternary landscape evolution. The study it also intended to provide baseline information on the geology, water resources, landforms, and soils of the McGregor Range, plus explore new and old concepts and background information as a collective intellectual resource base for future environmental assessments, fur resource management, and for mitigation and compliance considerations. In one sense this is a geoarcheological study, but in another it is a geoecological study, one that focuses on the dynamic processes that have operated to produce the modern landscape of McGregor Range and Environs.
