Technology Needs and Emerging Technologies. Joint Environmental Restoration and Waste Management Activities.

reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: ADA324948 | Open PDF

Abstract:

Technology Needs and Emerging Technologies is one of three initial Federal responses to a Memorandum of Understanding MOU signed by the U.S. Departments of Defense, Interior, Energy, and the Environmental Protection Agency with the Western Governors Association WGA. This report was prepared by an interagency Federal Working Group. It references detailed information produced by the agencies as of June 1992 on needs and technologies in environmental restoration -- and, to a lesser extent, in waste management -- and provides a very general overview of that material. It does not represent new or independent analysis of technology needs or of emerging technologies. The purpose of the MOU is to establish a more cooperative approach to development of technical solutions to the environmental restoration and waste management problems shared by States, commercial entities, and the Federal government. All Federal signatories are committed to cooperatively developing solutions to the Nations cleanup problems. The cooperation must be both between and among the Federal signatories, and between the Federal signatories and the WGA.
