Field Test Plan: Electronic Collection Instrument (ECI) Field Trial and Beta Test.
Abstract:
The Army Research Institute is engaged in a research and development program sponsored by the Defense Institute for Training Resource Analysis DITRA designed to develop and test a prototype Performance Automated Measurement System PAMS. The PAMS concept was derived from the requirement to improve the recording of field training data on the performance of soldiers, teams, and larger units by taking advantage of technological advances. PAMS was adopted by the U.S. Army in April 1993, and was subsequently renamed the Electronics Collection Instrument ECI for Army use. This report summarizes the field trials conducted to determine the software and hardware capabilities and functions of a prototype ECI. One goal of the field trials was to conduct a joint test of the ECI under field conditions. A second goal was to have a broad base of users test the ECI in a field environment. ACCESS field trials were performed to achieve those two objectives First, to conduct the field trials with separate DoD services, was achieved. The second, to have a broad base of users test ACCESS in a field environment, was achieved.
