Evaluation of Cyclops Automatic Target Detection and Comparison with Human Capabilities.
Abstract:
An evaluation is presented on the performance of the detection and tracking algorithms used in a DSTO developed experimental air to air threat warner Cyclops. The simulations of Cyclops routines were performed using the Generic Track Processor software. It was found that human observers with limited training, who were aware of the approximate target location, reliability detected the target at ranges significantly greater than the automatic target acquisition system. The limitation of the data set and implications of the results are discussed.
