Synthesis of Novel Tetrametallic and Trimetallic Compounds from Reactions of MMe3(M=Al,Ga) with 1,2-(H2E)2C6H4(E=N,P).

Abstract:

The independent 21 reactions of MMe3 M Al, Ga with 1,2-H2P2C6H4 resulted in the formation of the novel 8-membered tetrametallic ring compounds with the general formula Me2M4mu- PH2C6H42 M Al 1, Ga 2 in a nearly quantitative yield. Combining AlMe3 and 1,2-H2P2C6H4 in a 11 ratio also afforded 1. The reaction of AlMe3 with 1,2-H2N2C6H4 21 yielded the novel asymmetric compound Me2Al2AlMeC6H4NH22-AlMe3 3. Compound 3 is composed of four aluminum centers which are chemically inequivalent. Reaction of GaMe3 with 1,2-H2N2C6H4 in a 32 ratio gave Me2Ga3mu-NH2C6H4mu-NHC6H4NH2 4. The synthesis and characterization of 1 through 4, including their solid-state structures, are presented.
