Abstract:

General Mcpeak made sweeping changes to the Air Force during his tenure as Chief of Staff of the Air Force. This assessment analyzes his changes from a organizational cultural management perspective. The paper reviews the- two dominant subcultures of the Air Force, Strategic Air Command and Tactical Air Command, and how General Mcpeak impacted these cultures to secure his vision for the future Air Force. The paper is fused with Edgar H. Scheins model for cultural analysis. Mr. Schein is a noted authority on organizational culture.
