WWVB Baseline Measurements: Summary, Findings, and Recommendations.
Abstract:
The National Institute of Standards and Technology NIST operates a 60-kHz timing signal transmitter, known as WWVB, at a site near Fort Collins. Colorado. This system has redundant transmitters and antenna systems and was thought to radiate about 13 kW. NIST commissioned the Naval Command, Control and Ocean Surveillance Center. Research, Development, Test and Evaluation Division NRaD to make baseline performance measurements that could support the design of a 6-dB upgrade. The measurements are reported in NRaD TR 1693. This document TR 1692 provides a summary of the measurement results, a recommended upgrade configuration, and recommendations.
