Abstract:

This report documents the results of a 2-year research and development effort by the Consortium for Advanced Positioning System CAPS. As a result of this program, integration of real-time site positioning with three-dimensional computer-aided design has been accomplished and commercialized. This technology achievement will greatly facilitate construction site layout and enable the capture of as-builts as a routine part of the construction process. Integration was achieved with three different site positioning systems SPSis proprietary technology RtPM total stations and global positioning.
