Development of an Epidemiological Database Management, Extraction, and Analysis System (EPISYS)

Abstract:

This report is the user documentation for the integrated system of software programs called Epidemiological Interactive System EPISYS. The program consists of a number of user-callable modules, Epilimit, Epibase, Episaam, Epimips, and a Utilities module. The system, when complete, will give researchers and medical planners the capability to easily detect, sample, and analyze any ICD9-CM illness based upon a number of ancillary variables including age, race, sex, service branch, ship type, paygrade, and occupation. These programs will significantly improve the ability to access our Medical History Files and will provide investigators with an integrated system of computer programs for health monitoring and medical projection needs. The user documentation in this report explains in detail the user modules, Epibase, and Epilimit. Epidemiology, Occupational safety and health, Medical management tools, Medical data base software.
