Determining the Usability of Digital Video Interactive (DVI) Technology in Computer-Based Instruction
Abstract:
The use of-advanced multimedia technologies can enhance computer- based instruction CBI. This research sought to understand the usability of digital video interactive DVI for Air Force instructional designers. Findings were expanded to include the development of a model for multimedia development. Task analysis and process description data are also provided. Findings were that DVI technology is very difficult to use and AF users will better be able to employ software multimedia packages currently available. The multimedia development model developed during this project uses job, task, and observational data to provide process descriptions of multimedia development relying on the ISD model as the overall support structure. It is highly recommended this model be validated and automated for use by Air Force CBI developers.
