Family Policy
Abstract:
This Directive supersedes Secretary of Defense Memorandum, Department of Defense Family Policy, January 15, 1988 hereby cancelled and establishes policies, assigns responsibilities, and prescribes procedures on family policy for DoD military personnel in Active, National Guard, Reserve, or Retired status civilian personnel and DoD families. Implements family policy- making criteria in Executive Order 12606, The Family, September 2, 1987 ensuring that the rights and autonomy of DoD families are considered in the formulation and implementation of DoD policies to the extent permitted by law. Does not establish any rights or remedies and may not be relied upon by any person, organization, or other entity in an administrative or judicial proceeding or any other forum.
