Leishmaniasis
Abstract:
Leishmaniasis is caused by infection with protozoan parasites of the genus Leishmania. There are three major forms of clinical disease cutaneous, mucosal, and visceral. Leishmaniasis is an arthopod-borne disease and is acquired via the bite of the female sandfly vector. The reservoirs of disease are animals such as desert rats, sloths, horses, rodents, foxes and dogs.
