Finance Workstation Guidelines to the Defense Information Technology Services Organization. Version 1.0.

The document details a set of open workstation alternatives, including personal computers and X Window terminals that, in conjunction with enhanced network connectivity, will replace all existing proprietary dumb terminals used to access Finance applications. In addition to supporting terminal access to existing applications, the workstations will support end-user applications such as word processing and spreadsheets provide immediate access to network services such as file sharing and electronic mail and serve as a platform for near-term and longer range open systems projects, including X Window and clientserver-based applications.
