A Fuzzy Logic Controller System

Fuzzy set theory allows for a relatively straightforward method of working with uncertain or imprecise data. Fuzzy logic makes use of this theory by providing a methodology of applying rules to this data. Presented in this paper is short discussion of fuzzy set theory, followed by a discussion of the system simulated. In the work discussed in this paper, a simple feedback system is used to illustrate the application of fuzzy logic. The system simulated is a simplified model of a turret whose position is to be controlled. The results of the simulation are shown and elaborated on, followed by a discussion of potential applications for fuzzy controllers and expert systems. As an appendix, the computer source code used to implement the simulation is presented and discussed.
