Spectral Analysis of the Shuttle Glow. SPAS II/IBSS Mission - AIS hardware
Abstract:
The experimental program was directed toward understanding the Shuttle Glow phenomenon, shuttlespacecraft contamination and associated problems. The Arizona ImagerSpectrograph experiment AIS was flown as part of the IBSSSPAS 2 Mission. Several IBSS experiments were supported by the AIS. Much important data was gathered and is being analyzed at this time. The results from the successful mission will be used as the basis for further work on these important subjects. A second experiment using the same approach is being prepared as an attached shuttle experiment. The Shuttle Glow Experiment GLO has been manifested on STS-53 as the next step in our study of the shuttlespacecraft interaction with the earths atmosphere.
