reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: ADA255867 | Open PDF

Abstract:

In May 1992, Natick conducted a Best Technical Approach BTA for the High Speed Container Delivery System HSCDS to be incorporated into the Cost and Operational Effectiveness Analysis COEA being prepared by the U.S. Army Quartermaster School. The BTA was prepared in-house whereas, the COEA was performed by a contractor American Power Jet. The first objective of the BTA is to summarize the most plausible technical approaches that were studied in the Trade Off Determination TOD. Cost data is provided for these technical approaches. Next, the material developers recommended approach is described and justified. Finally, any environmental and MANPRINT concerns are identified for the recommended approach. To follow in the same format as the TOD, the BTA discusses the three major subsystems of the HSCDS. Cost data and performance descriptions are provided on the container subsystem, main recovery subsystem, and the extractionejection subsystem.
