Abstract:

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers USACE has, historically, been the focal point within the Army for topographic surveying and mapping. The U.S. Army Engineer Topographic Laboratories USETL, a USACE research and development laboratory, has spearheaded research and development in the mapping sciences, developing automated mapping and surveying systems and supporting development of tactical system that process digital topographic data DTD. USAETL has long been an active participant within the mapping community for fostering.
