Preliminary Specification for F/A-18 Hotas Part Task Trainer

Abstract:

This specification covers the requirements for the design and construction of a deployable FA-18 HOTAS Part-Task Trainer. This device shall simulate, to a limited degree as specified herein the crew station of the single place, dual engine FA-18 aircraft. The device shall consist of a trainee station simulating the FA-18 cockpit and a visual system display, a trainer operation console CRT terminal and a mini computer system. The FA-18 HOTAS part-Task Trainer will be utilized aboard a carrier to train NavyMarine Corps pilots to maintain proficiency in those skills and techniques involved in using the HOTAS system in operation of the FA-18 aircraft. The trainer shall provide training in air-to-air target intercepts and weapon delivery, air-to-ground weapon delivery, High Speed Anti-Radiation Missile HARM system operation, radar operation, FLIR operation, radar warning system operation, and Electronic Countermeasures ECM operation.
