reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: ADA249882 | Open PDF

Abstract:

Non-governmental environmental activist groups in the international arena have a profound effect upon the militarys ability to effectively deploy and train. An examination and analysis of the environmental activist phenomenon as it applies to past and future operational effectiveness is presented. The scope of examination is limited to environmental activism outside of the jurisdiction of the United States and territories and its effect upon operations. Generally, environmental grass roots movements have had marked success in restricting military exercises and training regimes. In this regard however, giant multi-national, corporate styled, environmental activist groups have had and will have little effect upon military operations.
