Annotated Directory of Threatened and Endangered Wildlife on Selected U.S. Army Installations East of the Mississippi River
Abstract:
The Army is required to protect state and federally listed threatened and endangered species on lands under its control. This can have a direct effect on the land use and environmental management of those lands. The Army needs to determine the extent of potential endangered species problems on Army lands as a basis for developing long term management strategies to protect list species while minimizing negative effects on the Armys training and testing missions. This report summarizes available information on the known or potential occurrence of federal and state listed threatened and endangered species on major Army installations east of the Mississippi River. This information is intended to alert installation land managers to the potential for endangered species on lands under their management, and to provide Army planners and administrator with a ready source of comparative information on the endangered species management burden among installations.
